These are all of the picture used on my music magazine, they go in order of non-edited and edited apart from picture 3 as that one had no edits done to it.

Explorations Of Font And Colours
I have looked at many different magazines during my research
portion of my work and this has allowed me to view conventions of these
magazines. I decided that I wanted to use a font that was easy to read but
would also be considered fun to read, this is why I used Balloonist SF as this allowed to have both things
that wanted, I did use other to split the text up a little and give it some
variety but I used this font the most.
I tried to represent my
target audience of rock through colours and house style and this therefore
allowed to set my colours and house style, the colours I did use are dark
colours such as browns and blacks and this is because these are the colours
that are usually represented with my target audience of the rock genre and
because I did use colours that would normally represent them I am more likely
to appeal to that target audience.

Music Magazine Photo Shoot Planning Sheet
My magazine will consist of a few images of people that will
require a lot of thought in to what effect they give off when people look at
them. Keeping this in mind I wanted to make my images fairly simple but still have
them link to stories in the magazine. I
will be using a mostly close-up shots and longs shots of people in my magazine
and the person I will be using as my model for these pictures is George Pierce,
a fellow media student, as he has the type of look I need for my magazine which
is things like a leather coat and can look very intimidating when he wants to
be and this is the closest I can get to what I want for my images.. There will
be no backgrounds to my images after they have been edited so I want to make it
as easy as possible by putting my model on a dark background to make it easier
to remove the background. I will be using images without background because I
want to use the images as a reference or a guide to a page in the magazine and
I don’t want them to distract people from the many stories so if I make them
simple they will still catch people’s eyes but they won’t keep people occupied
for long.
I want my model to be dressed in a very particular way so
that it suits the type of people that my magazine is aimed at. Since they are
the people that listen to rock they are Stereotyped in a very particular way; wear lots of leather and have a lot of
piercings and tattoos and they always look intimidating, I will use this stereotype
while doing the photo-shoot because if the magazine has these types of images
on it then it is more likely to attract and appeal to an audience of this
stereotype.
The lighting that I will be using on my imagery will want to
again follow the stereotype of the target audience and since they stereotyped
as preferring darker colours to lighter colours I will use predominately dark
colours on photo-shoot.
This is the magazine that inspired me to do my
magazine photo shoot in a particular way and as I would like my magazine to
have a front cover picture similar to this one but following rock stereotypes
and conventions such as dark clothing and lots of leather clothing and also
being very intimidating more closely . When
I looked at this magazine it gave me so many ideas for what my magazine would
be like and that is why my ideas will be quite similar to this design of
magazine.

Magazine Cover Lines
I have come up with a few possible cover lines that I
could put on my magazine front cover and this is because I decided that my cover line will heavily relate my cover image to my cover picture and because I want to have a
picture of a new band I want to be able to have something related to them. I am
thinking of using some type of language method such as alliteration to improve
to the overall quality of the front cover but also making the cover lines
catchier and will remind people of the magazine when they think of it. I will
also try to use a simple two sentence line that is split up in to 2 separate
parts which allows it to be still catchy and allows for the line to take longer
to be read and entices the reader to read more.
What Will My Interview On My Double Page Spread Be?
For my double page spread I will be focusing on a story about
a new band and their new songs and stuff similar to this. This will be laid out
in a paragraph form to show that the different paragraphs will be talking about
different things.
This story on this particular double page spread will be
directly linked to story and image on the cover page as they will be about this
story and will be about the same thing but the things on the cover are there to
entice people to read the magazine and showing this story on the front makes it
seem more important than others and increases its chances of being viewed by
people. My contents page didn’t really contain a main story to link to the
double page spread but it will contain an image that will link to my double
page spread.
Magazine Questionnaire Analysis
On my questionnaire for question number 7 I asked people
“What types of things would you like to see in a magazine?” and the most common
answer from all the people that did my questionnaire was gossip meaning that my
magazine will need to have some form of gossip to work with the thoughts of the
people who answered as they are the type of people that would buy this magazine
and therefore I would want to cater to their preferences so people like them
would read my magazine.
Another question I asked on my magazine was how often my
magazine should be published and the majority of people that did participated on
my magazine thought that my magazine should be published monthly and if I
was to publish my magazine I would make sure that my magazine is published
monthly as it can be assumed from the questionnaire that people prefer it this
way.
Another question I asked on my questionnaire was how much
people would pay for the magazine of this type and the most common answer was
“£2.01-£3” which means people would be willing to pay quite a bit for my
magazine meaning that I would have to have high quality magazine and not many
ads for this prices range as a price as high as £3 people would be expecting
quality.
Another question I asked on my questionnaire was how often do
you listen to music and the most common answer was people listened to music for
10+ hours a week meaning that I would need to have a very eye catching magazine
to get their attention as these people would be listening to music a lot and
won’t notice as music as people who do but this also means that people who do
read the magazine are more likely to understand some references to music
therefore engaging them more.
For the most part the participants that did my questionnaire
fully and correctly but some people however answers some of the questions as a
joke but the rest of the results allowed me to understand want people want in
magazines and therefore allows me to change my magazine to make it more
appealing.
